Maximum Support Residence for Children and Adolescents
Project no. 6031, supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan
Amigos dos Pequeninos, IPSS is creating a Maximum Support Residence for Children and Adolescents (Residência de Apoio Máximo para a Infância e Adolescência, RAMi) in Silves, with 12 beds, for children and young people with severe mental illness who need continuous care and round-the-clock support.
The project is part of the National Network of Integrated Continuous Care (RNCCI), in its Integrated Continuous Mental Health Care strand (CCISM), and contributes to Target 56 of the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The operation is contracted with the Central Administration of the Health System (Administração Central do Sistema de Saúde, I.P.) under Notice no. 25/C01-i02/2024, approved by the ACSS Board of Directors on 17 April 2025.
The contracted investment is 300 000,00 €, funded by the PRR with the support of the European Union through NextGenerationEU. The residence is being built on the same site as the Maximum Support Residence for Adults, allowing integrated clinical management and local care for families in the Algarve.
Objectives
To create 12 Maximum Support Residence beds for children and adolescents with severe mental illness, filling a gap in the National Network of Integrated Continuous Mental Health Care in the Algarve and avoiding the need for young people to be moved away from their family and community.
