P.R.A.
Pontes, Raízes e Asas: Local Social Development Contracts (CLDS)

Area Covered: Municipality of Silves
8 parishes (freguesias): São Marcos da Serra, São Bartolomeu de Messines, Silves, Tunes, Algoz, Alcantarilha, Pêra, Armação de Pêra.
The Pontes, Raízes e Asas (P.R.A.) project, meaning “Bridges, Roots and Wings”, sets out to run a total of twelve initiatives across every parish in the municipality of Silves. It works closely with the local Social Network (Rede Social) and the organisations on the ground supporting people in socially vulnerable situations, including unemployment, the rural isolation of children and young people, lack of access to services, and the need for vocational training and family support.
The municipality of Silves covers a large area, stretching from the coast to the Algarve interior, with very different local realities, so social work here brings demanding challenges. For this reason, P.R.A. is designed as a mobile project that travels throughout the municipality.
